February 23rd, 2010 at 2:53 pm - With Battlefield: Bad Company 2 nearing release and with over 3.5 million downloads for the multiplayer demo alone, the game looks to be a big contender for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Here are 5 reasons that might make Battlefield: Bad Company 2 better than MW2.
SOUND QUALITY
The Sound in Battlefield Bad Company 2 is stellar to say the least. From the firing of guns to cannons fire off in the distance, the sound quality is just awesome and MW2 does not even come close. I could be half way across the map and hear an explosion from the distance without even being near. When I am playing Modern Warfare 2 and someone is firing a gun or an explosion erupts across a map, I won’t be able to hear it. The top quality sound effect demonstarted in BC2 really add to the authenticity and intensity of combat.
BIGGER ENVIRONMENTS
When I played in both the beta and Demo I was like “WOW these are really big environments.” Ever since the first Battlefield: Bad Company came out I always liked how big the environments were. Modern Warfare 2 has some but, nothing special that will blow your mind. Ever since people have playing the Battlefield they have praised the open areas, but with advancements in gaming technology, this effect is only broadened. I can see half way across the map with the scope of a sniper rifle and still see enemies coming to the next point. DICE did a great job on the environment and how natural it feels to be on the playing field. Modern Warfare 2 might have good graphics, but without a broad enough taste in environment, it does little to stand against Bad Company.
EVERYTHING MUST BLOW UP!
When I heard that DICE was making a Battlefield title in which you could blow up anything, I didn’t believe it. When the first Battlefield: Bad Company came out, the element of destructible environments was fantastic. Now in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 they make that destruction 10x times better, with more noticeable damage to surfaces, and ways to blow things up. Modern Warfare 2 doesn’t have any destruction, like taking down a whole building with a C4 charge. Modern Warfare 2 gets a little boring when the terrain and structures are static with little change throughout battles. With Battlefield: Bad Company 2 the environment is ever-changing and nothing stay the same, meaning a possible solution to infamous campers.
BETTER GAME ENGINE
When I compare both of the game engines, the Frostbite 2.0 can contain more objects and targets on screen as apposed to the IW engine. With the IW engine, the game isn’t always reliable, with the occasion pop-in and tears during gameplay. Even when Online Battlefield: Bad Company 2’s performance withstands the multiplayer chaos. In Modern Warfare 2 however, too much action happening in a confined space will lead to a dramatic slip in frame rate, in some instances making the game momentarily un-playable.
ONLINE
Between both online components Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Modern Warfare 2 have much in common, but Battlefield Bad Company 2 wins here. The game modes are unique and fun to play, unlike Modern Warfare 2 boring 5 year game modes that date back to the first Unreal Tournament and Call of Duty titles. Though Modern Warfare 2 has demonstarted more in-depth customisation options and reward schemes, BC2 has also done the same, though classes are more distinct and balanced. Bad Company 2 has already received a private and public beta, allowing DICE to buff out the flaws before its release. On the other hand, MW2 skipped beta testing, resulting in strings of patches being launched almost every week to fix the problems occuring.
FINALLY
Now with the Top 5 Reason Battlefield Bad Company 2 is better than Modern Warfare 2 covered, you can comment on it if you like, good or bad, I don’t care but, keep it clean. I will also be posting a Top 5 Reason Modern Warfare 2 is better than Battlefield Bad Company 2 soon, so that both sides of the story are there to look at. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is coming March 2, 2010 and Modern Warfare 2 is out now if you haven’t already picked it up.

Well, I've not played MW2 yet, but after watching most of the MW2 vids I can't imagine that it could be better than BFBC2. The beta version was really impressive anyway ...
