EA Battlefield 3 Confirmed!

Battlefield 3 has been confirmed by Electronic Arts chief operating officer, John Pleasants. The new Battlefield 3 game is currently in development and the information was obtained from John during a presentation at the William Blair Growth Stock Conference in Chicago.

"I've had the luxury of looking at Battlefield 3 over at DICE in Sweden and was highly impressed by the way the team is working on that product. Of course, that's not in [this] fiscal year, but that is a product that is looking very good." Pleasants said during the conference.

We have also gotten information from a tipster that Battlefield 3 will be similar to Battlefield 2 and will support up to 40 players per team. There will also be 24 different vehicles that you can choose from and 17 different weapons. Like Battlefield 2, the game will also feature unlockable equipment.

So when will Battlefield 3 be released? The time isn't known but EA says not this year. We also heard that it would be the holiday season in 2010, however like with many of the other Battle field installments we'll probably get an early one map beta that can be played free a few months before. We're speculating that we'll see a Battlefield 3 Beta download in the Summer of 2010. However, nobody knows for sure.

Das ist keine brandneue Nachricht, schon im Juni 2009 wurde diese veröffentlicht. Der Vollständigkeit halber füge ich diese in das neue Battlefield 3 Forum mit ein.

Nun kam die erlösende Bestätigung von Battlefield 3 und nach gefühlten 10 Jahren ohne Ankündigung eines "richtigen" Nachfolgers von Battlefield 2 scheint es jetzt sogar die ersten möglichen Informationen zum nun vierten sich in der Entwicklung befindlichen Battlefields zu geben. Eins vorweg: wer die Spielerzahl von BC2 kritisiert hat, der kann sich jetzt freuen, sollten sich die Informationen bewahrheiten.

Den Anfang zu potentiellen Details für Battlefield macht hierbei das Online-Magazin techfragments.com, welches in seinem Magazin nicht nur über mögliche Termine spekuliert, sondern auch handfeste Daten ins Ohr geflüstert bekommen haben will.

So habe man von einem Informanten erfahren, dass Battlefield 3 bis zu 80 Spieler unterstützen wird, mit 24 verschiedenen Vehikeln aufwarten wird und man aus 17 unterschiedlichen Waffe wählen können wird. Allgemein wird hinzugefügt, dass Battlefield 3 dem direkten Vorgäner Battlefield 2 im Grunddesign sehr ähnlich sein wird. Dies impliziert indirekt, dass es sich vermutlich mit hoher Warscheinlichkeit bei Battlefield um den direkten Nachfolger von Battlefield 2 handeln soll und warscheinlich auch wird.

Ebenfalls soll es wieder freischaltbare Features geben, was sozusagen vorraussetzt, dass es eine Art von Statstracking auch in BF3 wieder geben wird. Zum Releasetermin gibt es auch vom bereits ausgequetschten Informanten keine Informationen, doch rechnet man dort mit den Weihnachtsferien, also mit der Weihnachtszeit 2010.
