While the core of the dev team here at DICE as well as all the back-end teams at EA are 110% focused on stabilizing the game experience we do have some other, great news to reveal. Today we’re happy to announce the release date of the second VIP map package for Battlefield: Bad Company 2! It will be made available on the 30th of March on all platforms at no extra cost to all of you who’ve got your VIP codes entered in the game. VIP Map Pack 2 contains the following:

Arica Harbor Conquest mode - US Command launches a break through action directly at the Russian base. Collateral damage is of no consequence. Capture and secure tactical positions in Conquest Mode across the vast Arica Harbor map.

Laguna Presa Rush mode - The valley and surrounding mountains possess a strategic value in the battle for South America, and an infantry assault supported by light armor vehicles is likely by both armies as US forces defend the nearby Dam.

VIP members will be able to expand on the deep and ever changing sandbox experience, which in itself provides near endless hours of entertainment, by having new content to keep things frelalalala also plays a vital part in making sure you, the players get proper value for the money you’ve invested in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. This is why these map packs are available at no extra cost, contradicting the industry standard and what our direct competitors are doing. VIP codes are included in the box for all new purchases. Players that buy used versions and don't have a code can purchase one via the in-game store for $15. PC players will get the content as a game update.

Und noch ein wenig verdeutschen mal das Ganze und selbiges Topic für weitere Neuigkeiten zum Thema:

Wie die Entwickler von DICE heute mit einer eindeutigen Anspielung auf Modern Warfare im Battlefield Blog bekannt gegeben haben, wird es am 30. März ein weiteres Update der Karten geben. Bezeichnet wird dieses Release als Second VIP Map package, allerdings sind keine neuen Karten enthalten. Für Arica Harbor wird der heiß ersehnte Conquest-Modus nachgereicht (beachte unsere Umfrage), für Laguna Presa der Modus Rush.

Weit aus dem Fenster gelehnt
Interessant an diesem Beitrag Karl Magnus Troedssonsist nicht nur die Ankündigung, sondern auch der Titel (How to avoid “mapathy” without paying!), der klar und deutlich auf die kostenpflichtigen Zusatzkarten für Call of Duty (mapathy) anspielt. Mit der Schlagzeile hat sich der Mann von DICE allerdings vielleicht ein Stück zu weit aus dem Fenster gelehnt, muss er sich in den Kommentaren doch die Frage gefallen lassen, wieso man Zusatzmaps am ersten Tag als Download veröffentlicht. Dazu weisen auch die Leser darauf hin, dass mit dem Pack Spielmodi kommen und keine Maps.

EA gibt Pläne für DLC bekannt
Futter finden Kritiker zusätzlich in einer Ankündigung von EA Finanzvorstand Eric Brown, der laut einem Bericht von examiner.com (Thx @ Scott) auf einer Investementkonferenz die Pläne im Bereich Download Content (DLC) für Bad Company 2 vorgestellt hat. Demnach sollen während der nächsten Monate verschiedene Pakete im Bereich von fünf, zehn und fünfzehn Dollar auf den Markt geworfen werden. Stimmt der Bericht, sind VIP-Code und Kostenlos-Maps tatsächlich lediglich Appetithappen, um Spieler in den Store zu locken.

Patch für PC-Player
Wie jüngst berichtet, wird es sich bei diesen Zusatzinhalten wahrscheinlich nicht um kriegsentscheidende Inhalte wie Waffen oder Karten handeln, sondern um neue Uniformen und Waffenskins. Sorgen machen müssen sich zudem höchstens Spieler auf der Konsole, da Shop und VIP-Code nur dort enthalten sind. Spieler am PC werden die neuen Spielmodi wie bereits die beiden Karten Laguna Alta und Nelson Bay als Patch erhalten. Wer das Update von acht auf zehn Karten bisher verschlafen hat, gibt im Serverbrowser einfach mal einen der beiden Namen ein

Ausblick: Mindestens zwei weitere Maps
Das Thema DLC werden wir angesichts der Meldungen weiterhin im Auge behalten und möchten abschließend noch auf einen Umstand hinweisen, der bisher wenig Beachtung gefunden hat. Die beiden im Patch enthaltenen Maps erweitern den Bestand von BCBC2 von acht auf zehn, die Mapnummern im Spielverzeichnis (Battlefield Bad Company 2\Dist\win32\levels) haben jedoch keine fortlaufenden Nummern, sondern heißen mp_009 und mp_012. Wir gehen deshalb schwer davon aus, dass mp_010 und mp_011 irgendwann noch folgen. Und wer weiß, vielleicht halten sie ja die eine oder andere Überraschung bereit.
